Film Screening: April 19th, 2024

Join us at 5:30pm on April 19th at the Mahone Bay Centre in welcoming activist and inspiration Rana Zaman to the South Shore. If you’ve been to an @ac_palestiniansociety rally in Halifax we’re sure you heard her open the events with her mighty call, “Welcome Humanity!”. We are honoured to host Rana and can’t wait to learn more about her experiences in doing advocacy work in Nova Scotia, and what we can all do locally to dispel harmful myths and counter the spread of disinformation as we support calls for a Free Palestine.

The Pressure is Working! South Shore Ceasefire Now and the South Shore Chapter of the Council of Canadians present our next action – a PHONE ZAP on April 8th, 2024 at 7pm AST. We invite you to register to join us to make calls to PM Justin Trudeau, Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly, Premier Tim Houston and our local MP Rick Perkins,

Join us this Saturday March 2nd in Lunenburg for a 1-hr emergency rally in solidarity with the Global Day of Action: Millions March for Palestine.
We will meet at the parking lot of the Lunenburg Farmer’s Market (15 Green Street) at 12PM and demonstrate along Victoria Road.

Pass the Mic: A space for speaking up!
We invite our community to bring their thoughts, grief, poems, songs, or anything else to share for up to 10 minutes or less of open mic time.
As we continue to witness the unfolding genocide in Gaza we want to hear from you and stay tuned in to our collective power. Come recharge with your community as we keep our momentum going for Gaza.
We are looking forward to launching a new collection of artists’ postcards for peace at this event, to be mailed out en masse to our MLAs, MPs, PM – whoever needs to hear from us (again!) about calling for a ceasefire.
This will also be the another chance to sign the petition we’re sending to Premier Houston!
As always, children are welcome – we hope to have some colouring pages & supplies available.

Time to keep the pressure on!
Join SSCN outside local MLA Becky Druhan’s office for a 1-hour rally and help us send a message to the province that the people are calling for a ceasefire!
Come add your name to a petition we will be sending to Premier Tim Houston demanding that he calls for a stop to Canada's support of the bloodshed, and acknowledges his position against a ceasefire has helped to prolong the suffering.
We will also be sending a letter to Becky Druhan to clarify her position and call for a ceasefire. We demand that all levels of government do more with their power for the sake of humanity!

Join South Shore Ceasefire Now in demanding our local and national government call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. We will gather at 2PM outside the Bridgewater Town Hall at 60 Pleasant Street, and safely demonstrate from there to MP Rick Perkins office at 517 King Street.

Vigil: December 17th, 2023

Join the South Shore Ceasefire Now committee on December 17th, on the Pan-Canadian day of action for Palestine, for a Vigil for the victims of the Israel - Palestine war.
Together we will gather in grief and solidarity to reaffirm our demand for an immediate ceasefire and an end to all violence. We will honour and memorialize the 20,000 lives lost to this genocide by collectively, as a community, writing out the names of the victims.
We must continue reminding our local, provincial and federal representatives that 71% of polled Canadians called for a Ceasefire now!
The vigil will take place in Bridgewater, NS at 517 King Street from 6pm-8pm.
Feel free to bring your own candle.
Town of Bridgewater Presentation: December 11th, 2023

Please arrive at 6:00 pm at the Council Chambers in Town Hall, situated at 60 Pleasant Street in Bridgewater. We encourage you to wear and display slogans of peace & support for Palestine and for a permanent ceasefire. We hope to create a respectful environment for both council members and presenters, and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining this atmosphere.
